The Band Since 1971

This is where Fairweather start in December of 1971 by high school students and a band instructor from Iowa Falls Iowa. The

group played their first gig in July of 1972 at the Alden Legion Hall.  The original members were Mark Perrine trumpet, Steve Ford Keyboard, Bart Love Trombone, Mike Bullen bass guitar, Joe Smith lead guitar and Danny Mullane drums.  The band's music revolved around the brass section featuring music from Chicago, Tower of Power, Cold Blood and Ides of March  The band quickly became the quintessential jazz rock band in Iowa and built a significant following especially with the nightclub and college crowds.  The band played such venues as Pappy's, the Stein in Cedar Falls Iowa.  The OP and Mister B's in Ames Iowa.  Ballrooms such as The Surf, the Matters Val Air, The Starlight and Silom Springs in north central Iowa.  In 1975 the band won the battle of the bands at the Surf ballroom in Clear Lake Iowa.  The band reconvened several times over the passed few years but most recently in July 2024 at the Timbukbur micro-brewery in Iowa Falls.  It was a total success with the band being asked back for the Riverbend Rally the following year.  In 2026 the band has been nominated for the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The band would greatly appreciate your support by voting on the petition of induction to the Hall of Fame.
